Trading VPSes are noisy

Most “trading VPSes” are typically slower compared to bare metal due to hypervisor overhead, and “noisy neighbours”. Your competitors are using the same network adapter, switch port and CPU as you.

Xeons and Epycs are too slow

The CPUs used in trading VPSes are almost always Xeons or Epycs, which have slower per-core CPU speeds. Memory will also have a slower cycle speed, even on dedicated bare metal servers.

We use faster CPUs in custom-built servers in our own racks, in data centers a few hundred meters from key exchange matching engines. We know our hardware and network intimately from having built it ourselves.
